Service cancellation letter from Pastor Charles

Good day, Shiloh Church family!

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. – 2 Peter 1:2

Our lives continue to be disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The end is not yet in sight. And no one can predict what the days and weeks ahead will bring. Yet Hebrews 13:8 remains true: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

During this crisis, I have two pastoral concerns: to feed my congregation and check on my members. Our elders and deacons have made calls to more than 1,700 members across both campuses over the past two weeks. And that’s just to the members over sixty-years-old!

Our goal is to reach out to all of our members in the coming weeks. If you watch one of our livestream services, please fill out the Connection Card with your name, email, and/or phone number so we can know you are there and are okay.

Livestream Services | Thank you for joining us for Midweek Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, Saturday Prayer Meetings at 9:00 AM, and Sunday Services at 9:30 AM. This past Sunday, more than 400 members participated in Bible Study Fellowship. Way cool! Be marked present for these livestream times together and invite your One to join you.

The Lord’s Prayer | This coming Sunday (April 5), I plan to begin an 8-part series on the Lord’s Prayer. We will begin the series Sunday with the invocation, “Our Father in Heaven” (Matthew 6:9). Please join us at 9:30 for our livestream service. And invite your One!

Children’s Message | Starting this Sunday, we will add a brief children’s message to our Sunday morning livestream, before I preach. The children’s message will likewise be on The Lord’s Prayer. Make sure to watch the livestream as a family, with your elementary-aged children.

Holy Week 2020 | Sunday is also Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. In a real since, “Easter” will be whatever Sunday the Lord allows us to meet together again. But there are several ways we will observe Holy Week, in this midst of the pandemic.

· Prayer Calls | Monday thru Friday, I will lead prayer calls at 7:00 AM. During these calls, I will give devotionals on Faces Around Calvary, and we will pray together. These calls will be via our regular Prayer Call number, Zoom, and Facebook Live.

· Good Friday Service | We will livestream a service on Good Friday at 12 Noon on all of our platforms, in which we will sing praise and I will preach a message.

· Good Friday Sing-Along | At 7:00 PM, we will stream a sing-along, during which the worship team and I will sing songs of faith, hope, and praise.

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the world economy. Our church is not exempt. With the expectation that present circumstances will be our reality for an extended period, we are reducing non-essential expenses. Unfortunately, this process has included the furlough of half of our staff this week. Please pray for all affected families.

As the Lord prospers you, continue to financially support the ongoing work of ministry in and through the Shiloh Church. You can give online at Shiloh.Church or by mailing your offering to either church campus. Likewise, you can drop off your offering this Sunday on both campuses. Church leaders will be present to receive offerings from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Downtown and from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM in Orange Park. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

I love you! I miss you! I am praying for you! I am grateful to be your pastor! I cannot wait for us to meet face-to-face again!

All the best,

H.B. Charles Jr. | Pastor-Teacher
